The Fayette
Metropolitan Housing Authority (FMHA) uses federal funds to provide
rental assistance for low and moderate income families, elderly or
disabled persons. Renters who are income eligible seek housing which
fits their needs in the private rental market and which meets certain
requirements. The tenant will pay a portion
of the monthly rent, based on his/her income, and the Fayette
Metropolitan Housing Authority will pay the rest of the rent each
month directly
to the owner.
Program participants are chosen by eligibility and
will have their income and expenses verified. All eligible families
will be issued a Voucher of participation and allowed to
seek a home which is suitable and meets their needs or they may stay in
their present unit if the unit qualifies by Housing Quality
Standards
(HQS) and Fair
Market Rent (FMR).
